Biography

Yuyeon Lee, a South Korean pianist celebrated for her brilliant technique and delicate touch, has performed on prestigious stages including Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall and the Tsai Performance Center in the United States, as well as the Seoul Arts Center, Mozart Concert Hall, Suseong Artpia, and Youngsan Art Hall in South Korea. She was a 2023 winner of the Carnegie Competition and first-prize recipient of the Richmond Piano Competition, leading to performances at Carnegie Hall in New York and a solo recital at the Tsai Performance Center in Boston in 2024. Yuyeon has also received numerous awards, including the Soloists’ Competition at Boston University, the Eumag Chunchu Piano Competition, and the Korea Art Development Association Piano Competition, and has appeared as a soloist with the Boston University Symphony Orchestra, Kammersinfonie Stuttgart Symphony Orchestra, and Daegu MBC Symphony Orchestra, performing works by Liszt, Rachmaninoff, and Mozart.

She has served as pianist for master classes with renowned artists such as Timothy Ehlen, Sara Davis Buechner, Kenneth Drake, Ian Hobson, Jerome Lowenthal, Attila Némethy, Tomislav Baynov, Soo Jung Shin, Hie Yon Choi, and Younghyun Cho. Yuyeon earned her master’s degree and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts at Boston University College of Fine Arts under Professor Boaz Sharon, after completing her bachelor’s degree at Sookmyung Women’s University in South Korea with Professor Hae Jeon Lee.

In addition to her performance career, Yuyeon is a dedicated educator with extensive experience teaching students of all ages and levels. She has taught private lessons to over thirty students at the South Shore Conservatory, preparing them for recitals while nurturing both technical skill and artistic expression. As a Teaching Assistant at Boston University, she led group piano classes and provided individualized instruction for undergraduates. Her teaching emphasizes strong fundamentals, creativity, and performance confidence, reflecting her commitment to inspiring the next generation of musicians while continuing to pursue her own artistic development.
